At least it's an old question for me without answer until now.

Mephisto published the Polgar module in 1989/1990 (at a time where MMIV was still available at a similar price) and soon after the MMV module (cheaper ?). Both seems to have similar level but different behaviour.

Was there different programmers team working for Ed Shröder ?
Is there some major commonalities between the MM-IV MM-V serie and the Polgar ?
if Polgar is not a variant of MM-IV - was it linked to any other programms stronger or weaker (outside the milano)

so far i know there are significant differences in the programming. One is more positional and the other one (Polgar IMHO) plays tactical chess.

Beside this Polgar offers a new user interface and a real display and it includes much more code than MMV (64kB vs 32kB).

Thats what I have read! But I dont know the differences in detail.

the most part of additionally code are´nt used for chess knowledge only. Some new features of comfort are included like the names of the opening in different languages or piece symbols are displayed, chess lections (From the producers side POLGAR is also named "The chess academy for the modular system") or gimmicks like an Elo-calculation.
