I have to mention by the way, that a real working frequency for TurboKing and Simultano is 2,5 Mhz and not 5 - because its generated through NEC uPD78310/312 onboard controller (that 64-pin monster near 6502 cpu).

Few more words about Debut-M: it has Permanent Brain always ON (like Kaplan's computers), Referee mode (for 2 humans play), Takeback full game length and Set-Up position function - with this one choosing a specified level means not setting time control but the depth that device must reach at least (from 1 to 9 plies).

Ok, so I check on-board quartz again and its clearly written 16200K, so with Intel 8284's 1/3 divider it gives us 5,4 Mhz real frequency to this chess computer...

By replacing CPU with native 8086-1 and ROMs by 100ns model; the only thing Im afraid is RAMs - those currently installed are 180ns, so with 10,8 Mhz this may not work

Replace the EPROMS and test it with +20% Speed or so... If that works you can try next crystal with +30% or something like this...

Replacement of CPU and RAM requires to unsolder the old circuits. It is possible, but you have the risk of destroying the nice device...
