the process is:
- setup the board with white pieces at bottom
- press Enter to let it choose its first move as White
- acknowledge the move, pressing the relevant squares (top side of the board) without moving the pieces themselves
- move the white pieces accordingly, without pressing the squares
- NOW and now only, switch the "top" option. The rest of the game should be as you expected.
