I can not identify the digits on the oscillator thanks to reflections on the picture. But there is a better picture in the web
http://www.leningrad.su/museum/show_big.php?n=2981 and it suggests a frequency of 6.2 MHz. Although it could be there is a frequency divider... 2:1 or so... Besides you can see the device is slightly different in some parts. It could be the devices were sold with different frequencies. Don't ask me why, but I think, this cpu is was NOT produced in russia... it looks like polished and new labelled...?! |

Re: DEBYUT-M
Hi, CPUs at both pictures are the same for sure; they were produced as many other chips such as RAMs in 1991 (they all are marked 91XX) - there was (and I think, its still in business) a huge production line of microelectronic parts in Minsk, Belarus.
As for CPU's frequency: original 8086 runs up to 10Mhz, so this clone was possibly of a good quality! ![]() |

1810BM86 is a clone of Intel 8086 which was specified with round about 5 MHz
1810BM86M is a clone of 8086-2 which was specified with max. 8 MHz The pictures of the debut say 1810BM86 ! I've never seen a 1810BM86 in original, because like mentioned above Robotron favored Siemens SAB clone due to better durability... But pictures in the web show an other case for 1810BM86 which is a kind of "divided" into three "parts". They have 2 cuts on the surface. Thats why I think the cpus on the both pictures are from other manufacturer and later polished and relabeled with "1810BM86". Thus it is possible, that cpus are specified with 8 MHz. But I do NOT exclude the possibility that cpus are original from russia and overclocked. Everything is possible... ![]() |

Ok, Im not a specialist in electronics at all, so its up to You to tell us all hidden truth about this stuff

I think, the 8086 uses an asymmetric clock (the original PC had 4.77 MHz for the cpu with an oscillator of 7.16 MHz.
For 6.2 MHz this would indicate ca. 4.2 MHz für the cpu, well within its characteristics. I don't know the available chips in Soviet Union of 1991 for consumer parts but perhabs 4 MHz would mean no penalty when accessing ROM? And the latest bit over computing power was surely not the goal of such a ches computer. Price and reliability were more important. |
