AW: Re: Mephisto Phoenix Owners Lounge
Hello,
which native engines in your opinion give the most fun to play at lower levels (1000-1800 ELO?), i.e. without the obvious illogical blunders? Unfortunately, I noticed such in the case of Shredder 13.5, which was only enjoyable the first time. Finally, it troubles me how the above question relates to the King engine available as part of the Millennium module? regards, larryadler Hi Larry, Indeed Shredder 13.5 throws in some blunders, especially < 1500 Elo. If you prefer not to see these blunders, I would recommend one of the other engines. Earlier Stockfish versions played too computer-like in my opinion. This has been improved, but I don't know, if it will suit your needs. So I would recommend Komodo, if you are more a positional player, or Hiarcs, if you are more a tactical player. Rule of thumb: If you are an e4 player, you'll probably be more happy with tactical engines. If you are a d4 player, you'll probably feel more comfortable with positional engines. (Unless you play Blackmar-Diemer Gambit, of course. ![]() Actually some versions of the King engine are available in the Retro section, but only those of the early to mid 90's. You can compare the versions on the Schachcomputer.info Wiki: https://www.schach-computer.info/wik...title=The_King https://www.schach-computer.info/wik...x#Emulationen: I hope this could help you and my English was not too bad. ![]() Best regards Markus |
