Hi Bryan,

I am a little confused how to get the ROMS to work under Banksia.
as for your question in the TalkChess forum:
"I have managed to load individual old chess computer ROM engines from the CB-Emu package but is there a way to load more than one ROM engine at the same time?"
The answer is NO - it seems there's still a problem with the option "Add Engine - All engines in the main folder" in the BanksiaGUI.
This feature is only working with engines as EXE files. You can add a BAT file as single engine, but it doesnt accept BAT files with this auto-detection feature.
But there's a simple trick to make adding CB-Emu engine much easier, it's the same method as used for Hiarcs:
1) go to your MessChess\Hiarcs folder and run the file MAKEALL.cmd - this creates a subfolder 'Engines' with batchfiles for all existing engines
(if you prefer full engine names instead of short driver names, then use 'MAKEALL /name')
2) move this 'Engines' folder to your BanksiaGUI program folder
3) now you can easily install any engine in the BanksiaGUI by using this 'Engines' folder and selecting the wanted *.bat file.
After this installation the engine will appear in the dropdown lists in the game setup for White and Black players.
But as I already said, it's only possible for 'One' engine - the option 'All engines in the main folder' does not work with *.BAT files (maybe just not implemented in BanksiaGUI?).
At least this method is much easier than having to enter the full path to MessChess and the engine name manually for every single engine. And I don't think it's a good idea to add ALL engines at once, because BanksiaGUI is starting each engine to detect its protocol and the existing engine options, so this would take a very long time for around 300 engines.
(BTW, it's not necessary to select 'uci' as protocol, because 'Auto detect' will also use the UCI protocol for all engines in MessChess, since the plugin supports both 'uci' and 'wb', and 'uci' is tested first by BanksiaGUI).
Regards,
Franz
