The LCD wiring for MK5/6 is complex, and I can't use the same trick I did with Super System III to output the digits.
But, luckily both games write the LCD text to a fixed location in RAM. You can see it in the debugger (mame ccmk5 -debug, New Memory Window, scroll down to $3E6E)
