Hi,
we now have all the information available to unveil the next phase of the tournament!
Let's start with the main competition, 1/8th final, featuring sixteen chess computers:
Code:
1st of group 1 DGT Centaur (2919)
2nd of group 8 Saitek GK 2000 (2000)
2nd of group 2 Novag Constellation Expert (1916)
1st of group 7 Mephisto Chess Challenger 10Mhz (2032)
1st of group 3 Vonset / Femuey L6-v2 (2496)
2nd of group 6 Novag Emerald Classic (1982)
2nd of group 4 Mephisto Milano v2.00 (2008)
1st of group 5 CT800 1.42 (2291)
1st of group 8 Tandy 2150 (1759)
2nd of group 1 Systema Challenge (1802)
2nd of group 7 Mephisto Chess Challenger 32Mhz (2138)
1st of group 2 Millenium The King Performance (2527)
1st of group 6 Mephisto Berlin (2181)
2nd of group 3 Fidelity Champion Sensory Chess Challenger (1569)
2nd of group 5 Yeno 532XL (1840)
1st of group 4 Millenium Chess Genius Pro (2303)
As you may read, no additional randomization is applied: matches were pre-designed, and ranking first in any selection group translates into an advantage, which is to initially face a second-ranked competitor. Winners of the selection phase can only meet on quarter-final phase; this of course does not exclude some second-ranked devices to access the next step.
And the consolation cup list is as well completed, simply complying with the order the third-ranked computers were identified group after group:
Code:
1 Novag Beluga (1701)
2 Mephisto Rebell 5 (1816)
3 Saitek Turbo King II (1888)
4 Tiger Grenadier (1855)
5 Mephisto Maestro Travel (1561)
6 CXG Super Enterprise (1684)
7 Mephisto II (1426)
8 Fidelity Designer Mach III Master 2265 (2044)
Other computers can take a nap...
I shall start matches with the main cup: let's keep the consolation cup for later.
In this elimination phase, computers will face each other an even number of times, with alternate colors, until we get a winner. If a match is still drawn after six games, the tournament director may change the level set in both computers (usually for faster games). No tie-break applies.
Last rule, but not least: I am the tournament director

(and the referee as well

).
MfG,
Tibono
