AW: The 64-cup

Hi,

next match revealed much interesting. Well, rather the second game...
Saitek GK2000 meets Novag Super Nova, with odds close to 1.5 / 0.5 score.
And this is exactly what happened! But wait...

In the first game, the GK2000 playing White gets the Super Nova out of its book as early as move #2, but can't leverage any advantage from this as it finds itself as well immediately out of book. The game is kept balanced for twenty moves or so, before turning to the advantage of the Saitek device.

I guess the revenge game will please, at least attract attention from, the PSH lovers.
Unlike the previous game, both devices make use of their respective opening books, with a clear advantage for the Super Nova able to play twice as many moves from the book. Later, on move #18 and on the basis of a balanced position, it played what looks like a typical PSH-driven move, sacrificying a Bishop to dismantle the ennemy King's pawns shelter. There is no material compensation to this sacrifice, only positional: a Knight + Queen threat around the ennemy King. The GK2000 is able to keep initiative, and applies pressure for a while, but at some point the potential threat resulting from the dangerous coordination Knight + Queen reveals too much for the Morsch program.
Unfortunately (for the nice game sake) the Super Nova runs for a clear material advantage (a Rook up!), but doing so it lost initiative and the GK2000 can repeat a checking sequence and save half a point.
