first match in group 5 is expected to provide weak chess games: Novag Chess Champion Chess Partner 2000 vs Mephisto Solar King. The CP2000 is a bit of a hassle to handle it: tough contacts, need to keyin twice on captures, need to confirm moves with the Enter key. Furthermore, you must not use this Enter key after keying in the computer moves, otherwise it changes color, and moves. In a nutshell, a pain in the neck...
About the Solar King: I use the "turbo" mode which means powered with batteries rather than light. Light works, of course, but in this mode the device is intolerably slow and weak (the clock pace is dramatically slowed down to save energy).
In the first game (CP2000 plays as White) the lead switches several times from one computer to the other, along with the most significant mistakes
. As often, the last one (on move 56) establishes the winner, the Solar King.
In the revenge game, 16 moves are enough to toggle the game in favor of the CP2000. Shared score, one point each.
