I have good news to share; I trust they will please Paul in addition to all lovers of the Constellation Expert and PSH (including myself).
The fact is the small Kaplan program powering the Companion III (and the Tandy 1850
) managed to get half a point from its match against the Rebell 5, that's an achievement! Even more impressive, it had an edge since late middlegame, was one Pawn up in the endgame, but the position was still risky with both Queens still on board; thus I consider smart it repeated moves for a draw (maybe not that knowingly, though
).
As a consequence, the Rebell with 3.5 points stands now behind the Expert (4 points) and I trust Ivan will not be able to increase the 3 points it owns so far, as the last match for group 2 will be against the King Performance... Therefore, you may consider the Expert is qualified for the main competition.
The second game is interesting as well; the Companion III playing as Black resists fiercely during 45 moves before commiting a deadly blunder
