Well, this problem seems to happen only when playing against an other engine via plugin.
I've checked the rebel5/mm4 plugin, but there's nothing that could explain these random locks.
And increasing the sensorboard delay in mmboard to 250 msec seems at least to improve the situation (so far it didn't happen again).
